Mombasa OCPD Tom Odera has warned community policing committees in kisauni to stop harrasing members of the public.

Odera said some local security agents are harrassing residents by imposing themselves as either police officers or vigilante groups.

He was speaking during a meeting with members of various community policing committees in Kisauni constituency at the ACK Binns primary school hall in Kengeleni also attended by local MP Hassan Joho.

The two said a monthly trainning programme will be started for the members to enlighten them on their role in preventing and combating criminal activities in the area.

Joho said it is important for all stakeholders concerned to understand their roles for the fight against crime to succeed.

He adviced local residents to volunteer information to police officers concerning any incident that happens in their locality as police officers cannot be everywhere.

The police boss said there has been good cooperation amongst leaders and the police which has helped bring down insecurity trends in the area.

The MP was accompanied by Kongowea councillor Feisal Karama and his Mjambere ward counterpart Rashid Bedzimba.
