A Muslim organization has come to the support of ousted cabinet minister Chirau Mwakwere urging Matuga voters to return him to the August house.

Kenya Muslims National Advisory Council Congress chairman Stambuli Abdullahi appealed to Matuga residents to forgive Mwakwere and give him another chance.

The leaders were speaking after attending a national executive meeting in a Mombasa hotel yesterday.

“We are not imposing Mwakwere on Matuga people, we are only appealing to you to give him another chance so that this region continues to benefit from his current status as a senior politician,” said Stambuli.

Kemnac national chairman Sheikh Juma Ngao said Mwakwere has cut an edge above the rest  of the legislators in the region and warned that should Mwakwere fail to recapture his seat then the region will be orphaned.

“Mwakwere remains the most senior politician in the region. What befell him is not just a big blow to his career but to the Coast region as a whole,” said Sheikh Ngao.
He argued that it would be difficult for any other politician from the region to rise to Mwakwere’s status.

“If this region was to produce a presidential candidate, we as Coast people would not look at any other leader than him,” said Sheikh Ngao.

The leaders argued that Mwanyoha would be used by the very forces that helped him fund the petition case and his election campaign.

Sheikh Omar Nasoro advised Matuga residents to elect independent minded leaders like Mwakwere.
