Baghazal lads hold AFC Leopards in friendly encounter

 Congo United FC held AFC Leorpards to a 1-1 draw in a much awaited friendly played in Mombasa .

Leorpards’ Xavier Francis scored the opening goal  in a penalty  awarded to them a few minutes to the conclusion of  the first half.

The equalizer was netted by Congo’s forward Ali Mwichande in the 81st minute in the tight match that attracted scores of spectators in the otherwise empty municipal stadium.

AFC’s  coach Nick Yakhama said the leopards will be in Mombasa for sometime to play  several other friendlies in readiness  for  the division one league.

“I’m still trying out my new players and they are not doing bad.We had close to ten chances but we only managed to convert one,” said Yamakha.

He said seven of his first 11 team did not play in the match as they were in Nairobi for various reasons some with injuries and others training with the national team.
He said they are widenning up their recruitment to pick more players from the Coast region which he said other clubs have overlooked.

Congo United ‘s manager Arif Bagazal said he was looking forward to good to forming a strong team for their divuision two league.

“The  match was impressive and my new players are not doing bad,” said Bagazal who was remorseful for his team’s recent demotion to division two. 

The match was organised by by AFC’s Coastal fans led by branch chairman Maurice Amahwa.
